Emelody implements a number of machining processes to produce prototype parts, as well as innovate tool/jig setup and CAM optimization. In-house we contain the ability for milling 5 axis simultaneous with 5 micron repeatability, and advanced turning with live tooling operations. If you require advanced finishing for your product, Emelody contains a number of recommended solutions based on application.

Renewable Energy

Wind Turbine Concept (MDS): Capturing multi-directional flow from expelled vent outlets, Emelody designed a VAWT/HAWT hybrid system to capture upward, and horizontal wind directions based on the daily time setting of the vent outlet.

Power T- Handle (PTLLC): A pedicel insertion driver with both manual and powered settings for precision insertion of spinal screws. Emelody provided mechanical engineering, power plant integration, and ergonomic test prints.

Dental

Silver Diamine Fluoride Dispenser (NODK): SDF is used to fill cavities and is very costly if used in unregulated amount. Emelody provided the mechanical engineering design to dispense a 15-microliter drop via mechanical action for up to 10,000 clicks of dispense.

FDM

FDM is selected when the goal is to use 3D printed parts as a terminal solution. FDM parts are directly used in aerospace, automotive, industrial, and consumer applications when part volume may not warrant tooling. FDM can be provided at resolutions as fine as 0.005" in over 13 thermoplastics. Typical plastic choices are ABS, PC-ABS, PC, Nylon 12, and Ultem 9085. Emelody engineers can recommend a thermoplastic that best fits your application. With the largest system build tray of 2ft x 3ft x 3ft, no project is too large.

Polyjet

PolyJet is a powerful 3D printing technology that allows for some of the highest 3D printing resolutions possible. With precisions as fine as 16 microns, the level of detail is extraordinary. PolyJet materials differ from their FDM counter parts in that they utilize UV cured liquid photopolymers. The parts have incredible smoothness and make for an excellent finish for aesthetic models. In addition, due to the precision they are able to print extremely small parts with great resolution. Top applications include medical, dental, and micro-actuation.

SLA

SLA materials range widely in mechanical properties and offer a wide variety of applications. Applications include snap-fit assemblies, automotive styling components, and master patterns. High-temperature materials and transparent materials are also available. Biocompatible materials are available for medical applications such as surgical tools, dental appliances, and hearing aids. Other materials are specifically formulated for patterns, offering low ash creation and high precision while also being expendable.

CNC(Milling/Turning)

Utilizing Okuma technology, our in house system of advanced manufacturing allows us to create repeatable prototype solutions to find statistical significance in case studies and analyze modes of failure to improve product design. For any given project, Emelody will produce up to 25 demonstrator systems to validate a design. In addition our 3D printing solutions compliment this expertise with quick turn PC and ULTEM soft jaws.

CAM & Jig Design

New machining projects require extensive thought and planning in order to minimize tolerance errors and poor part quality finish. Emelody provides set up and CAM consulting in order to design the best fixture systems that maximize rigidity and minimize set up time. In house we verify on our machinery that the methodology will work flawless providing the confidence to let operators maximize throughput.
